COSMOS 1457 (also known as Kosmos-1457) is a reconnaissance satellite launched on April 26, 1983, by the Soviet Union using a Soyuz-U launch vehicle from LC31 at TYSMC. The spacecraft has dimensions of 6.3 meters in length and diameter with a span of 6.3 meters. It weighs 2886 kilograms at launch and is equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power generation. Its primary mission was to conduct photo reconnaissance using the Zhemchug-18 camera, and it had a lifetime of 45 days. The satellite consists of a Yantar Bus with a main reentry module and two small reentry capsules designed for film return type operations.
