ROHINI 3 (Rohini RS-D-2) is an Indian satellite launched on April 17, 1983, from the Sriharikota Launching Range using a SLV-3 launch vehicle. With dimensions of 0.7 meters in length and diameter, and spanning 0.7 meters, it has a dry mass of 41 kilograms, identical to its launch mass. The satellite was manufactured by ISAC for technology demonstration and earth observation purposes and is owned by ISRO. It uses solar cells and batteries for power generation. ROHINI 3 had two different lifetimes: 9 days under one designation (#D1) and 1.5 years under another (#D2). Its shape is described as polyhedral, with a radar cross-section of 0.47 square meters.
