It was launched on April 12, 1983, from the PLMSC launch site using LC132/2 and the Kosmos 11K65M launch vehicle. Manufactured by NPOPM, this Strela-2M bus-based satellite has a cylindrical shape with dimensions of 3 meters in length and 2 meters in diameter. It weighs approximately 800 kilograms both at launch and as dry mass. The satellite is powered by solar cells and batteries. Its operational lifetime was expected to be about six months, and it belongs to the Russian military, designated GUKOS.
