COSMOS 1439 (also known as Kosmos-1439) is a reconnaissance satellite launched by the Soviet Union on February 6, 1983, from the TYMSC launch site using Soyuz-U as the launch vehicle from LC31. It features a Yantar'-2K bus with a main reentry module and two small reentry capsules. The spacecraft measures 6.3 meters in length, has a diameter of 2.7 meters, and a span of 6.3 meters. Equipped with a Zhemchug-4 camera for photo reconnaissance purposes, it operates on film return technology. COSMOS 1439's dry mass is 2886 kg, identical to its launch mass. Its power system includes two deployable solar arrays and batteries. The mission was managed by TSSKB under the ownership of GUKOS, with a primary mission purpose of conducting reconnaissance through photography. The satellite had an operational lifetime of approximately 30 days.
