COSMOS 1431 (also known as Kosmos-1431) is a military communication satellite launched by the Soviet Union on January 19, 1983, from Plesetsk Cosmodrome using a Kosmos 11K65M launch vehicle. The spacecraft measures 0.8 meters in length and diameter with a dry mass of 60 kilograms, identical to its launch mass. It was manufactured by NPOPM and is part of the Strela-1 11F625 bus series. Its mission involved military communication purposes, powered by solar cells and batteries. The satellite had a polyhedral shape with an RCS (Radar Cross Section) value of 0.6495. It was owned by GUKOS and its payload consisted of the Strela-1M Blok 33 No. 3. Its operational lifetime was approximately six months from launch.
