COSMOS 1405 (also known as Kosmos-1405) is an ocean surveillance satellite launched by the Soviet Union on September 4, 1982, from TYSMC LC90 using a Tsiklon-2 launch vehicle. It has a configuration of US-Bus and is part of the US-P series with payload number 118. The spacecraft measures 10 meters in length, 1.3 meters in diameter, and spans 17 meters when fully deployed. Its dry mass is 3000 kg, and it had a launch mass of 3300 kg. COSMOS 1405 is equipped with two deployable fixed solar arrays and batteries for power generation. The satellite's shape consists of a cylinder with two panels. It was manufactured by TSSKB/KOMET and operated under the ownership of VMF (Russian Naval Forces) to conduct passive ocean surveillance missions.
