Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 6, 2026
Short version: Nothing is sold, and your account data is never given to advertisers. The website and web app show Google ads to visitors who are not signed in; that ad revenue is what keeps the free version running, and signing in removes the ads. We use Google Analytics to understand where traffic comes from and what gets used. If you prefer, browsers like Brave block ad and analytics cookies by default and everything here still works.
At Keep Track, accessible from keeptrack.space, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy describes what information Keep Track collects, why we collect it, and how we use it.
If you have additional questions or require more information about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us at admin@keeptrack.space.
This policy applies to our online services (the website, the web app, and the KeepTrack API). It does not apply to information collected offline or through channels other than these services.
Consent
By using our website, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
Information we collect
Without an account
- Anonymous web analytics. We use Google Analytics in the web app, and at times on the website, to understand where traffic comes from and which features get used (referrers, page views, approximate location, browser type). This is not linked to your account.
- Advertising cookies (signed-out visitors only). Google serves ads on the website and in the web app when you are not signed in. Google and its partners use cookies and similar identifiers to serve and measure those ads. See the Advertising section below for details and opt-outs.
- Standard server logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes IP addresses, browser type, and timestamps as part of serving and protecting the site. We use this information for trend analysis, abuse prevention, and site administration.
When you create an account
Accounts are optional for the web app but required for the KeepTrack API. When you sign up we collect:
- Your email address, used to identify your account, and, only if you opt in, to send you occasional updates.
- Optional profile details you choose to provide: display name, avatar, user type (civilian, education, government, military), country, organization, and military branch/rank. These are voluntary and help us understand who uses KeepTrack so we can prioritize the right features.
- Linked sign-in providers. If you sign in with or link Google, GitHub, LinkedIn, or Facebook, we receive your name, email, and avatar from that provider. We never receive your password for those services.
Synced app data
So your setup follows you across devices, your account stores: app settings and preferences, your satellite watchlist, your selected sensor, scenario progress and scores, and unlocked achievements.
Activity and engagement data
To understand whether people actually use what we build, we record:
- The approximate time of your last signed-in activity and an approximate count of your sessions.
- Achievement unlock timestamps and scenario completion times.
API usage data
Every request to the KeepTrack API is logged with the associated account/API key, the endpoint called, the requesting IP address, country (derived from IP), and user agent. We use this to enforce rate limits, detect abuse (such as bulk scraping or license violations), and understand which features matter. Request-level logs are retained for roughly 90 days; aggregate counters (such as the lifetime request count for your API key) are kept with your account.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the website, app, and API
- Sync your settings, watchlist, and progress across devices
- Understand how KeepTrack is used so we can improve, personalize, and expand it
- Enforce rate limits and the API license, and find and prevent fraud and abuse
- Send you email updates, but only if you have opted in
We do not sell your data, and we never hand your account data (email, profile, watchlist, app data) to advertisers. The website and web app do carry Google ads for signed-out visitors; Google collects data through its own cookies to serve and measure those ads, as described in the next section.
Advertising
The free version of Keep Track is supported by ads. Here is exactly how that works:
- Ads are served by Google AdSense on the website (keeptrack.space) and in the web app (app.keeptrack.space), and only to visitors who are not signed in. Creating a free account and signing in removes them.
- Google and its partners use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, and, where you have consented, personalize ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Details are in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, a consent message lets you accept or decline advertising cookies before any are set for personalization. If you decline, you get non-personalized ads.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info, and ad or cookie blockers will not break the site.
- We never give Google or any other advertiser your account information, and ads have no access to your watchlist, settings, or API usage.
Service providers
Your data is processed and stored by the following providers acting on our behalf:
- Supabase - account authentication and database storage (profile, preferences, achievements, API keys)
- Cloudflare - hosting, content delivery, request analytics, and file storage
- Google Analytics - anonymous traffic and feature-usage statistics
- Google AdSense - advertising shown to signed-out visitors on the website and web app
Cookies and local storage
Keep Track uses cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in (authentication session tokens) and to remember your settings on your device. Google Analytics sets analytics cookies, and for signed-out visitors Google AdSense sets advertising cookies as described in the Advertising section. You can disable cookies in your browser; the site and app will still work, but you will not stay signed in.
Data retention and deletion
- Request-level API analytics are retained for roughly 90 days.
- Account data (profile, preferences, achievements, API keys) is retained until you delete your account.
- You can purge all locally stored KeepTrack data at any time from the user profile menu in the app.
- To delete your account and all associated server-side data, contact us at admin@keeptrack.space and we will remove it.
CCPA Privacy Rights (Do Not Sell My Personal Information)
Under the CCPA, among other rights, California consumers have the right to:
Request that a business that collects a consumer’s personal data disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal data that a business has collected about consumers.
Request that a business delete any personal data about the consumer that a business has collected.
Request that a business that sells a consumer’s personal data, not sell the consumer’s personal data. (Keep Track does not sell personal data. Some state laws treat third-party advertising cookies as “sharing” of personal information; you can opt out of that through the Advertising section’s links or by signing in, which removes ads entirely.)
If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us.
